Version management in Salesforce? How to stay in control.

Version control and Salesforce are two things that don’t go together well. In this blog, Floris Jan Galesloot, Salesforce Developer & Integration Specialist, explains how you can collaborate in Salesforce with the power of Microsoft 365.

Where is the latest version?

Salesforce is not exactly known for its brilliant version management. If you want to update a document, you must first download it from Salesforce, save it locally on your computer or somewhere in the cloud, modify it and then upload it again in the correct record in Salesforce. And what if your colleague changes something at the same time and uploads an updated document just after you? Or even worse: if your colleague emails an updated quote to a customer, does not save it in Salesforce and then leaves for the Bahamas for three weeks. So annoying!

Customer centric

A solution could be to store your files in SharePoint. You can easily and securely collaborate with colleagues at the same time and go back up to a zillion versions. But by doing so you lose the power of Salesforce again. In Salesforce, your files are not stored in arbitrarily arranged folders, but simply with the right customer, in the place that makes sense for everyone. By always putting your customer first, you don’t have to search, but you can simply find all related documents. But yes, those versions…

Best of both worlds

FILE 365 gives you the best of both worlds by combining these two powerful functionalities. It allows you to open your Microsoft 365 files from Salesforce, edit, even collaborate in real-time if you want, and save them again, including all the smart functionalities of SharePoint. FILE 365 adds the power of Microsoft 365 to Salesforce. This way you enjoy all the logic, without having to know where your files are stored and what the latest version is.

FILE 365 integrates Microsoft 365 and Salesforce. Documents associated with a record in Salesforce are stored in SharePoint, but can be opened from either Salesforce or SharePoint.
