Version control and Salesforce are two things that don’t go together well. In this blog we want to share how you keep in control of different file versions in Salesforce and stay ahead of the game.
Where is the latest version?
Salesforce isn’t exactly known for its brilliant version control. If you want to update a document, you must first download it from Salesforce, store it locally on your computer or somewhere in the cloud, modify it, and then upload it back into the appropriate record in Salesforce. And what if your colleague makes changes at the same time and uploads an updated document just after you? Or even worse: if, for example, your colleague emails an updated quote to a customer, doesn’t save it in Salesforce and then leaves for the Bahamas for three weeks. So annoying.
Customer centric
A solution could be to store your files in SharePoint. In SharePoint, you can easily and securely collaborate with colleagues at the same time and go back up to a zillion versions. But by doing so, you lose the power of Salesforce. In Salesforce, your files are not stored in arbitrarily arranged folders, but simply with the right record, in the place that makes sense for everyone. By always putting your customer first, you don’t have to search, and you can simply find all related documents. But how do you keep track of all those file versions…?
Best of both worlds
FILE 365 gives you the best of both worlds by combining all capabilities of Salesforce and SharePoint. It allows you to open your Microsoft 365 files from Salesforce, edit, even collaborate in real-time if you want, and save them again, including all the smart functionalities of SharePoint. This way, you can enjoy all the logic, without having to know where your files are stored and be assured that you always have the correct and latest version.
